This is Why You Should Drink More Coffee

For those of you who don’t know, the US Nurses’ Study is the largest ongoing health study, beginning in 1976 and examining over 121,000 nurses in the US. And thankfully, this study has some great news for all you coffee drinkers out there!

For every 8 – oz cup of coffee drank per day, there was, on average:

  • 7% decrease for risk of heart failure
  • 8% decrease for risk of stroke
  • 5% decrease for risk of coronary heart disease.

And, for those of you get jittery at the thought of caffeine, you’ll be glad to know that the results are similar with decaffeinated coffee too. The great health benefits of coffee are thought to be related to the high levels of antioxidants found in both caffeinated and decaffeinated coffee. In fact, some researchers hypothesize that the average American gets the majority of their antioxidants by drinking coffee!

In addition to helping to prevent disease, coffee can also alleviate headaches, and drinking it before a workout can both improve performance and increase calorie-burn.

So, drink away!
